  • Scope and Focus

    The Journal Innovation and Community Service (ICS) serves as a dynamic scholarly platform aimed at capturing and disseminating the outcomes of community service activities across diverse scientific fields. ICS welcomes manuscripts addressing a wide array of contemporary issues that directly impact societal quality of life, ranging from socioeconomic development, entrepreneurship, management, and technological innovation, to local wisdom, health, education, and environmental conservation.

    ICS covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:

    • Socio-economic Empowerment and Transformation: Activities that strengthen the capacity of individuals, families, groups, and communities through creative economic development, MSMEs, cooperatives, and empowerment initiatives leveraging local resources.
    • Entrepreneurship & Social Management Innovation: Breakthroughs in social business management, entrepreneurship development, community mentoring, and group-based enterprise assistance.
    • Appropriate Technology and Industrial Innovation: Application of science and technology in food, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, agricultural engineering, and adaptation of industrial and digital technologies for both urban and rural communities.
    • Local Culture & Traditional Wisdom: Efforts to reinforce identity, preserve traditions and arts, and incorporate local wisdom in modern community development strategies.
    • Public Health & Family Energy: Innovations in healthcare delivery, nutrition education, healthy living movements, household-level energy resilience, and family-based health interventions.
    • Religion & Social Morality: Fostering religious values, spirituality, and the contribution of moral-ethical principles in building social harmony.
    • Conservation, Environment, and Renewable Energy: Best practices in ecosystem rehabilitation, sustainable natural resource management, and the adoption of new and renewable energy technologies.
    • Innovative Education and Learning: Development of methods, media, and systems in formal and non-formal education, digital literacy, vocational training, and quality enhancement from basic to higher education.

    Publication Frequency and Schedule

    ICS is issued biannually, specifically every March and September. This schedule ensures regular archiving and broad dissemination of scholarly works to academics, practitioners, and the wider public. Regular publication intervals support a continuous knowledge transfer chain between academia and society.

    Brief Publication History and Workflow

    The Journal Innovation and Community Service (ICS) was initiated by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at STIEKOP Malang in 2021. Recognizing the urgent need for systematic documentation and publication of community service activities by the academic community and external partners, ICS launched its inaugural issue in March 2021. Since its first volume, ICS has adhered to a semi-annual schedule (March and September). The journal’s scope has since expanded to embrace themes relevant to the evolving needs of society and interdisciplinary academic collaboration.

    ICS Publication Workflow

    • Manuscript Submission: Authors—including lecturers, students, and community partners—submit complete manuscripts in accordance with the ICS template and author guidelines.
    • Initial Screening & Desk Evaluation: Editors assess manuscripts for originality, scope relevance, and administrative completeness.
    • Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review by field experts. Feedback is provided to authors for revision.
    • Revision & Finalization: Authors revise manuscripts based on reviewers’ input; the editorial board undertakes a final quality check.
    • Editorial Meeting & Publication Decision: Eligible manuscripts are assigned to the March or September issue following editorial board deliberations.
    • Publication & Dissemination: Accepted articles are published in print and digital formats and disseminated to academic and public audiences.

    This publication process is designed to be transparent and accountable, prioritizing originality, community impact, and the reinforcement of multidisciplinary cooperation. ICS strives to be a key driving force in fostering innovation in community service.
